Kintsugi Workshops

STAY GOLD.

Join us for a completely unique experience in the heart of Hackney!

Have you wondered what materials and tools are used in a traditional Japanese kintsugi repair? What makes a repair food safe? And why didn't that mass-produced kintsugi kit I tried to use at home look nearly as good as it did in the picture? At our signature Kintsugi Repair for Beginners workshop, you will get all of these questions answered, and more.

Guided by a trained historic conservator, this workshop is a thorough and immersive 2.5-hour introduction to the practice of kintsugi repair, taught in our cozy Stoke Newington studio. What you can expect:

  • A fun and relaxed environment (with good music) and small groups so that we all get the most out of the session

  • Plenty of guidance & tips to make your repair shine

  • All the materials needed, including your own piece of stoneware or ceramic tea bowl to repair and take home at the end of the session

  • Our brief Kintsugi Guide so that you can continue to practice your newly acquired skills

Our public workshops happen weekly. Follow the link below.

A portion of the profits from each booking go to Mental Health UK.

What is Kintsugi?

This Japanese ceramic repair technique using gold and bronze powders to create stunning repair lines originated during the 15th century, and has evolved to become a beloved art form adopted by modern artists and restoration specialists alike. In our Beginners Kintsugi Workshop we practice modern-hybrid repair methods, providing each attendee with all the materials and guidance they need to leave the session with a beautiful repaired piece of their own.
